SANA’s team returned back to Aabdeh today for a medical/educational mission with MSF. Accompanying SANA was midwife Hajar Hasbini.
Â
The clinic was packed with patients who ranged in age between and years. Most were in the 2nd to 6th month of pregnancy. It was Hajar who carried out the scans, under the guidance of SANA’s Reem S. Abu-Rustum, according to the ISUOG 6-step approach. She was able to ascertain viablitiy, number of fetuses, placental location, amniotic fluid and presentation. She then obtained all the required fetal measurements. She was able to confirm dates, and she redated 36% of the patients seen. She showed steady improvement with each scan.
Â
As usual, MSF’s Midwife Janine was helping us triage the patients. She was instrumental in arranging all the necessary followup for the complicated patients.
Â
And at the end of a rewarding day, the team headed back home and the dates were set for the next visit with MSF…
