With the return of rain, SANA’s team headed back to the highest Dinnieh Mountains, to Kfaribnine. Accompanying SANA today was Midwifery Student Suha Kanawaty who is currently in her 4th year at the Lebanese University.
Â
As ever, it was a most scenic route until our arrival at our the health department where the waiting room was filled with patients …
Â
The day commenced by an open question session and a discussion on various aspects of well being in pregnancy. Subsequently, SANA’s team carried out full assessments on the patients. In addition, sonographic evaluation was carried and it was Suha who scanned the patient’s under the guidance of SANA’s Reem S. Abu-Rustum. She comfortably applied the ISUOG 6-step approach and was able to carry out biometric measurements in the proper planes.
Â
Today’s patients ranged in age between 21 to 33 years. Most were in the 2nd to 8th month of pregnancy, 25% were on their first pregnancy, 25% were on pregnancy 4 or more and 56% had had no prenatal care or a maximum of 1 prenatal visit thus far. SANA redated 12.5% of the patients seen.
Â
SANA wishes to thank Mr. Dory Mansour and Levant Alie Houses SAL for providing all nutritional supplements today.
Â
And at the end of another rewarding day, SANA made plans for the next visit to Kfaribnine and the team headed back home…
