SANA’s team headed back to Aabdeh today for a medical/educational mission with MSF. SANA was accompanied by Khawla Saada, a 4th year midwifery student at the Lebanese University.
Â
And as is customary, it was an intense day with a packed clinic. All patients today ranged in age between 17 and 41 years.
Â
Khawla carried out all scans today under the guidance of SANA’s Reem S. Abu-Rustum. She methodically scanned the patients, according to the ISUOG 6-step approach, ascertained viablitiy, number of fetuses, placental location, amniotic fluid and presentation. She then obtained the required biometric planes and obtained the fetal measurements in order to confirm dates and determine fetal weight. She showed marked improvement as the day progressed and redated 27% of the patients seen.
Â
MSF’s Midwife Janine was instrumental in triaging the patients and helping arrange for the necessary followup on the complicated patients.
Â
And at the end of a rewarding day, the team headed back home and the dates were set for the next visit with MSF…
